A completion report is a written summary of the defects & illegal building practices found in a new property. This report should be provided to your builder as a rectification list.
A building completion report should be carried out after all work is completed to the building and preferably before the building is occupied to ensure the builder cannot blame cosmetic defects on yourself or removalist etc.
A building completion report is a more detailed report than a pre-purchase building report. A completion report will include both building defects and cosmetic defects. Some cosmetic defects that may be detected include, poor paint finishes, blemishes on walls and surfaces and general cosmetic imperfections beyond what is reasonable.
It is highly recommended that a completion report be conducted on a new property in order to have proof of condition upon taking position of the property.
